The Smithsonian Institution, established in 1846 for the increase and diffusion of knowledge, is a group of museums and research centers administered by the Government of the United States. One of Smithsonian's famous research programs was about aviation and aeronautics. Therefore, the impressive work "Bibliography of Aeronautics" was written by chief librarian Paul Brockett. This bibliography covers the international literature in the development of aeronautical science published from 1863 to 1932.
